MESIN PENCARI

A. Apa itu mesin pencarian ?

Mesin pencarian atau yang seingkali kita kenal dengan search engine adalah suatu program komputer yang dirancang untuk melakukan pencarian informasi di World Wide Web, jaringan perusahaan atau PC. Hasil pencariannya akan menampilkan serangkaian berkas atau informasi dari website atau blog tertentu (sering disebut Search Engine Result Pages --> SERPs) yang umumnya ditampilkan dalam bentuk daftar yang diurutkan menurut banyaknya pengunjung dan seberapa akurat informasi tersebut atau yang disebut hits. Tak hanya halaman website atau blog, informasi yang ditampilkan bisa berupa gambar, video atau tipe file lainnya.

Mesin pencarian ini sangat memudahkan kita untuk mencari informasi dengan cepat dan akurat, lihat saja betapa cepat 

B. Contoh Mesin Pencarian

C. Cara Kerja

    Berikut adalah urutan cara kerja mesin pencarian :

1. Web Crawling 

  Proses ini dilakukan oleh web spider dengan cara menjelajahi  informasi yang ada di World Wide Web, baik kata - kata ataupun link pada suatu website atau blog. Ketika blog atau website mengepost (mempublish) suatu artikel, dsb proses crawling akan dilakukan oleh web spider.  Program tersebut akan mengumpulkan semua informasi yang ada dalam website atau blog yang kemudian akan disimpan dalam database  milik search engine.

2. Indexing 

   Selanjutnya proses indexing akan  menyimpan informasi (data) yang terlah dikumpulkan spider web. Data yang disimpan berupa kata - kata atau keyword URL hasil crawling. Proses ini akan meng-archive atau mengindeks semua data yang sudah di-crawling sehingga mempercepat proses pencarian. 

3. Searching

    Ketika kita memasukkan sebuah kata kunci di browser pada mesin pencari, maka ia akan memanggil informasi dari website atau blog yang sudah diindex kemudian menampilkan data sesuai kata kunci pada query di mesin pencari. Data yang ditampilkan adalah data yang paling relevan (sesuai) dengan informasi yang kita cari, berupa judul, potongan data yang relevan serta URL-nya.

     Masing - masing mesin pencarian mempunyai agloritma sendiri dalam menghitung relevansi pada proses indexing. Sehingga kalau dicoba, hasil pencarian Yahoo, Google, Bing, Aol, dll akan berbeda meskipun kita menggunakan kata kunci yang sama. Agloritma pada masing - masing search engine akan diupdate secara periodik untuk menampilkan hasil yang lebih baik (akurat dan relevan) pada hasil pencarian

INFORMASI PL+S - PL+S

Spider

Merupakan program yang men-download halaman-halaman yang mereka temukan kemudian menyimpannya ke dalam database milik search engine.

Crawler

Program milik search engine untuk melacak dan menemukan link yang terdapat dari setiap halaman yang ditemuinya. 

Indexer

Komponen yang  menguraikan masing-masing halaman dan meneliti berbagai unsur, seperti teks, headers, struktur atau fitur dari gaya penulisan, tag HTML khusus, dll.

Database

Merupakan tempat untuk menyimpan data-data dari halaman yang telah dikunjungi, di-download dan sudah dianalisis oleh search engine

Result Engine

Mesin yang melakukan penggolongan dan penentuan peringkat dari hasil pencarian pada search engine sesuai agloritma masing -masing search engine

Web Server

komponen yang melayani permintaan (pencarian) dan menyampaikan hasil pencarian yang dikirimkan kepada komputer yang meminta informasi.
